LI:To strengthen my connections to our school CARE values

I am currently working on my Gold Respect badge. To achieve this my challenge is to complete 5 tasks that help me strengthen my connections to the PBS CARE value of Respect. Researching a person who is a well respected Aotearoa leader helps us to know more about them and what challenges they have come across. My challenge in this task was to complete a presentation on a respected Aotearoa leader. I created this DLO to show my understanding of the task.

I enjoyed doing this activity because learning more about a person who has shown respect to New Zealand, gives me pride, since they are representing a country not many people know about and also where I live. 

LI:To strengthen my connections to our school CARE values

I am currently working on my Gold Respect badge. To achieve this my challenge is to complete 5 tasks that help me strengthen my connections to the PBS CARE value of Respect. Writing this letter helps me show appreciation to the teachers that have taught me to be a great student in my years at school. My challenge in this task was to write a thank you letter to a teacher or other staff member. I created this DLO to show my understanding of the task.

I enjoyed doing this activity because its good to show acknowledgement  to the teacher who taught me for 2 years. 

This is the last task I’ve completed to earn my silver excellence badge.

To complete this task I needed to create three motivation posters by using quotes from people who inspire me.

The first quote I used was “One child, one teacher, one book, and one pen can change the world” by Malala. I used her quote because she represented the woman in her home country (Pakistan)

The second quote I used was “The most important thing, in anything you do, is always trying your hardest, because even if you try your hardest and it’s not as good as you’d hoped, you still have that sense of not letting yourself down “by Tom Holland. His quote is inspirational because he was bullied for taking ballet lessons, as that was his personal passion. 

The third quote I used was “I don’t make music for the eyes, I make music for the ears ” by Adele. She inspires me because she uses her emotions to make unique songs and lyrics.

I found this activity fun because it gave me the opportunity to make motivational posters to help others.

This is the fourth task I’ve completed to earn my silver excellence badge.

To complete this task I needed to research a New Zealander who shows excellence and innovation. I decided to base my task on Lorde because she has shown excellence during her performances. She inspired me to follow my dreams since she started her career at a young age.

I enjoyed taking on this task because it gave me an opportunity to share who and why Lorde inspires me.

This is the third task I’ve completed to get my silver excellence badge.

To complete this task I created a DLO explaining my personal passion. My personal passion relates to school, which is Kapa Haka. Kapa Haka is a personal passion because I am able to represent my school in a cultural form. It also helps me learn more about the Maori language and songs.

I found this activity fun because I was able to share what I’m passionate about at school.

This is my second task I’ve completed to get my silver excellence badge. 

During the last six days I’ve been practising my time tables. Instead of practising one, I tried to get on top of the high score charts. I took on this challenge since I learnt all my times tables. This challenge helped me answer quicker in order to get on top. During the six days I noticed that I have improved on answering the equations faster.

I’ve found this activity fun because I got the opportunity to improve my multiplication skills.

This term I have completed my first excellence task. This first activity was about me reading three different novels which were the Baby Sisters Club, Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone, and the Diary of a Wimpy Kid.

The first book I read was a graphic novel which I enjoyed because it was one of my favourite authors. It talked about Kristy’s life journey on how she became the daughter of Watson (stepfather).

The second novel which was the Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone. It was my favourite book out of the series, talking about how the story started off and getting Harry, Ron, and Hermione in a bad situation, and knowing that they would be in a series of challenging obstacles in the story.

The third novel which was the Diary of a Wimpy Kid. It was about how Rodrick (his brother), got in trouble for having a party without his parents permission, and when his parents found out he got grounded for a month.

This activity has kept me going to read book as I sometimes get unmotivated with reading when I am bored.
